Opening hours

These are our usual opening hours and planned holiday closures. Any changes to these will be prominently displayed.

Please feel free to contact us before you visit, especially if you are travelling from some distance or if severe weather is expected, to check on opening times and the availability of records.

Documents are produced on demand throughout the day with ‘last orders’ 30 minutes before closing time each day.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 9:15 – 17:00

Wednesday: 9:15 – 18:00 (last entry 17:00)

Friday: CLOSED

SATURDAYS Open in 2025: 11 & 25 Jan, 8 & 22 Feb, 8 & 22 Mar, 5 & 26 Apr, 10 & 31 May, 14 & 28 June, 12 & 26 Jul, 9 & 30 Aug, 13 & 27 Sep, 11 & 25 Oct, 8 & 22 Nov, 6 Dec. Office open: 9:15 – 12:15

Sunday: CLOSED

The Record Office is closed on the Saturday of Bank Holiday weekends
