Admission and Tickets
It is free to use the Record Office and you do not need to book.
You will need a reader’s ticket to gain access to the searchrooms. The Record Office is part of the ARA Archives Card scheme and you can use your Archive Card to access the searchroom. If you are not a member of the scheme, please register in advance of your visit on the Archives Card website if possible. Otherwise you can register on arrival or, for one-off visits, we will issue you with a Day Ticket. Please note that identification is required for all tickets, as below.
Identification
Please bring proof of your name and current address and signature. The following forms of identification are acceptable:
- Driving licence
- Utility bill (current)
- Council Tax bill/Council rent book
- Medical card (with address)
- Bank statement
- Vehicle Registration document
- Official letter
If providing suitable identification is a problem for you please contact the office using the details below.
We aim to help everyone to use our services and to ensure that lack of identification is not a barrier to access.
For security reasons, bags are not allowed into the searchrooms. Lockers are available (free) for secure storage of your belongings.
If you are travelling from outside of Leicestershire or Rutland you may book a microfilm/fiche reader or computer by telephoning the office in advance of your visit.
